I AM LEGEND |
||||||
Warner Bros: Will Smith, Abby (as Sam the dog) Cert 15 |
||||||
![]() |
This film is one of the jumpiest films I've seen in a long time lol, but on the plus side there is a topless Will Smith thrown in for good measure hehe. I Am Legend is a film based around a book…(based loosely around a book as are most book to screen films) anyway, I've not read the book, but I think I will do at some point. It's basically about a guy who is the last man on earth…or so he thinks, after a deadly cancer virus wipes out most of the earths inhabitants…I say most and you'll see if you watch the film. Some survive but are, erm…shall we say not entirely human. It's a good film to see on DVD I reckon…not something I'd put a night aside to go and see at the cinema. Was impressed with the CGI sets and the sheer scale of the real sets…it's quite eerie to see Manhattan completely deserted and overgrown. It's one of those films where the story only becomes clear at the end of the film…and the end of this film is quite abrupt. It's an OK film…a few scary moments and one or two emotional moments…*cries at the dog :-( * but yeah, I'd wait for it to come out on DVD |

THE SIMPSONS MOVIE |
||||||
20th Century Fox: Matt Groening, James L. Brooks (Screenplay) Cert PG |
||||||
![]() |
Well the much anticipated film of the year, the Simpson's movie. Everyone's favourite all-American family have their own big screen film. And it has all the classic Homer-isms, cock ups and everyday life of the Simpson's crammed into 87 minutes. Homer (Dan Castellaneta) manages to pollute the local water supply, which in turn cause some of the local wildlife to mutate. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) are called in and put a giant glass dome over Springfield. The Simpson's are turned against by their friends and family. I'm not going to give the ending away, or much more of the plot cause you won't go and watch it then lol. A naked Bart (Nancy Cartwright); Lisa (Yeardly Smith) finds a childhood romance; Marge (Julia Kavner) has husband trouble and leave Homer in Alaska. All 200+ Simpson's characters are in the film, including some new additions, Boob lady, Multi-Eyed Squirrel, Spiderpig, and many many more. Its a go and see, so go and see it!! |

HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX |
||||||
Warner Bros:
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane Cert 12A |
||||||
![]() |
This episode of Harry Potter is very dark...a lot darker the the previous films. The film starts on a high, and doesn't show an signs of slacking right up until the end credits. The new director of the film certainly has done an amazing job with the film and the special effects are beyond belief! You see all the old favorites in this film, Hermione, Ron, Professor Dumbledore, Sirius Black and many others. Among the old cast there are a few new additions, the ever smiling and cute Lula Lovegood is a brilliant character and is played exactly how JK wrote her in the books. The film starts with Harry and Dudley getting attacked by The Dementors in Harry's home town in Surrey. Harry defends himself and Dudley but in turn gets expelled from Hogwarts for using magic in front of Muggles. The story is really gripping and full of twists and turns, especially the scenes based around the Ministry of Magic and the character of Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), who appears as a little mousy woman, but is pure evil in a pink skirt! Sirius Black's character is explored more as he shows Harry his family tree in the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, Sirius' mad cousin Bellatrix LeStrange (Helena Bonham Carter) has escaped from Azkaban prison and is helping the Dark Prince, Lord Voldermort try to kill Harry Potter. All in all the film is brilliant and the scene between Dumbledore and Voldermort is unbelievable...I was sat on the edge of my seat! This is a brilliant film, and I can't wait for the next installement...if this film was anything to go by then the next one will be amazing! |

FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER |
||||||
20th
Century Fox: Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael
Chiklis Cert PG |
||||||
![]() |
The sequel to the first Fantastic Four is surprisingly good. I didn't expect it to be, normally if I watch a sequel I constantly compare it to the original and I end up not liking it, but I really enjoyed this one. Chris Evans (Johnny Storm) is definitely worth going to see it for, especially as he walks out the bathroom wearing nothing but a towel and a smile to hide his modesty! The basic plot is that the silver surfer comes to Earth and starts destroying things and generally causing trouble. Its up to the Fantastic Four to stop them! One problem, Johnny Storm has been silver surfer-ed and now who ever he touches he swaps powers with them, which leads to some funny moments I will admit. You also see the mysterious return of Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon) who was 'killed' in the last movie...or maybe not. There aren't any clever twists however they find out something about the silver surfer half way through the film. But up until that point, I will admit you are left thinking, "Is this surfer guy the good guy or the bad guy?" |

SHREK
THE THIRD |
||||||
Dreamworks:
Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz Cert PG |
||||||
![]() |
This film is SO funny! the only thing that spoiled it was the little brat sat behind me kicking my seat! In this film we see Shrek and Fiona become king and queen of Far Far Away, which Shrek doesn't particularly take to very well! Also Fiona has some rather surprising news for Shrek...*pitter patter*! We see all the old favorites in this film, like Pinocchio, GiGi (gingerbread man) and of course Donkey and Puss in Boots. But new characters are introduced as well, like a narcoleptic Sleeping Beauty, an obsessive compulsive Cinderella and a bitchy Snow White! Also Mister Justin Trouser Snake (Justin Timberlake) voices the adorable Arty (Arthur)...Definitely a must see and I really really recommend you go and watch it on screen ASAP! |

PREMONITION |
||||||
Sony
Pictures: Sandra Bullock, Julian McMahon Cert 12A |
||||||
![]() |
Sandra Bullock stars in this paranormal thriller about a devoted wife and mother who foresees her husband's death in a traffic accident. I actually quite enjoyed this film, a bit confusing at times, but if you want to be kept on the end of your seat and think a bit then this film is good for you. Sandra comes out with a line that seemed to stick with me for a good few weeks after, and that is "Get outta the car!" If you watch the film you will understand :-P |
